What Shelfcook is
Shelfcook is a pantry-first recipe app. Log what is in your kitchen by photo, barcode, or typing; get dishes from 30 cuisines you can cook right now, scaled to your household, with a grocery list for whatever is missing. The pantry persists between sessions, so the app knows when staples run low or food is about to expire. Photos are processed and not stored.
Who it is for
Families: a parent cooking weeknights from what is in the fridge, with per-person allergens and diets, kid-friendly filters, and portions that scale. Individuals: a solo cook in a small kitchen who wants to cook the cuisines they grew up with or want to learn, without a full shopping trip. Both are equal, and the app is global by design.
Platforms
Shelfcook runs on iOS and Android from one codebase. The website at https://shelfcook.app holds the account settings, data export, and account deletion. The store listings are not live yet; the site takes a waitlist.
Plans, prices, and the trial
There is one plan, called member. It costs $7.99 a month or $39.99 a year, which is $3.33 a month. Both include a 7-day free trial and are billed by the App Store or Google Play. Prices are in US dollars; the stores show local pricing. Before subscribing, one free scan preview shows the dish names Shelfcook finds in your pantry.
Members can run 40 photo scans and 200 recipe generations a month. Manual pantry entries, saved recipes, and the grocery list are unlimited. When a subscription ends, the pantry, saved recipes, and the list stay readable; scanning and generation lock.
Cuisines
30 regions at launch: Mexican; American regional (Southern, Cajun and Creole, New England, Midwest); Caribbean (Jamaican, Cuban, Puerto Rican); Peruvian; Brazilian; Argentine and Chilean; Italian; French; Spanish and Portuguese; Greek; Turkish; Levantine (Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian); Persian; Moroccan and North African; Ethiopian and Eritrean; West African (Nigerian, Ghanaian, Senegalese); German and Central European; Polish and Eastern European; British and Irish; North Indian; South Indian; Pakistani and Bangladeshi; Sichuan and Hunan; Cantonese; Japanese; Korean; Thai; Vietnamese; Filipino; Indonesian and Malaysian.
