Features
From the shelf to the table.
Every part of the loop, as it works in the app: capture, pantry, cook now, recipe, grocery list, restock.
Capture
Three ways into the pantry
Photo
One to four shots of a shelf or the open fridge. Detected items appear as chips: confirmed, uncertain (with a question to tap), or dismissed. Each chip opens to set quantity, unit, category, and expiry. Photos are processed and not stored.
Barcode
Scan a packaged good and get the product name, brand, size, and a category guess, with a quantity stepper. Not found? Type it in instead.
Typing
Autocomplete over the ingredient list, your recent items, and quick quantity chips. Manual pantry entries are unlimited on every plan.
Pantry
A pantry that remembers
Items sit in sections: Produce, Dairy and eggs, Proteins, Grains and pasta, Canned and jarred, Spices and sauces, Frozen, Snacks and other. Each row carries quantity, unit, an expiry badge (3 days, Today, Expired), and a staple star. Swipe for Used up or Edit.
Expiring soon
A push when something in your pantry expires within two days, so it gets cooked instead of thrown out. Each notification category has its own switch, and quiet hours (21:00 to 08:00 by default) are respected.
Staples running low
Star the things you always keep. When one runs low it goes on the list before you notice the empty jar.
Cook now
Dishes you can make tonight
Every generation is grounded in a curated corpus of reference dishes from 30 cuisines, so a Filipino adobo reads like one. Members get 200 recipe generations and 40 photo scans a month.
You can make now
Three to five dishes with the pantry match shown on each card, for example Have 9 of 9. A second band shows dishes missing one or two items, with Add to list on the missing ones.
Filters that matter
Cuisine or region, time (15, 30, 45, 60 plus minutes), diet, servings, skill, and appliances: air fryer, pressure cooker, no oven, one pan.
Recipe detail
Ingredients with have and missing marks, numbered steps, a servings stepper, a one-line regional note, and a source line that says where the recipe came from. The allergen line and the nutrition line both say they are estimates.
Cooking mode
One step per screen, large text, an inline timer, progress dots, and the screen stays awake. Food-safety temperatures appear where they apply, such as chicken done at 165 F (74 C).
Nutrition figures are estimates. Allergen flags are best effort and say so. Shelfcook makes no health claims.
Household
Everyone at the table
One profile per person, including people without accounts. Allergens, diets, dislikes, portion size, and a kid flag. Dishes that conflict with anyone's allergens are dropped before you see them.

Sharing one pantry and one grocery list across a household's phones, with invite links and roles (Owner, Member, Kid view), arrives in a later release.
Grocery list
Only what is missing
Grouped by aisle: Produce, Dairy, Meat and fish, Pantry, Frozen, Other. Each row shows where it came from, for example from Jollof rice. Checked items collect at the bottom; Move to pantry restocks them in one tap. Empty state: nothing to buy. Cook something and the list fills itself.
